Peter Hall Performance Arts Centre, Perse School

New centre for drama and music within the Perse School, named after Peter Hall, a pupil at the school from 1941-1949.

Our work:

A CDM contract to design, supply and install the glazed façade on the building. The solution employed the Raico Therm+ curtain wall system with a laminated oak internal section and Iroko extended external timber cappings. To maintain consistency across the façade, frameless aluminium casements were introduced above the top transom, operated on actuators to provide natural ventilation when required.

An innovative solution was also required on the corners to avoid loading the cantilevered pre-cast concrete. Pacegrade’s solution was to integrate a tensioned bar within the corner assembly, enabling the sections to be suspended from the tops of the internal columns. This limited load transfer to the precast below, and created the striking unsupported feature entrance.
